Castiglion Del Bosco Dainero Toscana IGT 2013

“The vineyards for this wine are about five miles east of the Tuscan coast and the wine is made from 90% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese. Clay soil mixed with gravel and combined with cool breezes from the sea, provide ideal conditions to grow fully mature grapes. The grapes are hand harvested and aged for 6 months in french oak barrels, 30% of which are new. The wine is medium to fuller bodied, with ripe red cherry and currant fruit. The finish has a little toasty oak spice. Nice balance of fruit and complexity. This wine would be wonderful with red sauce pasta dishes and Tuscan style steak. Superb value and a true crowd-pleaser.”
